Elder M. Russell Ballard was called to serve in the church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in 1985. He served a mission in England and in 1974 was called to be the President of the Canada Toronto Mission of the church. He was then called to the First Quorum of the Seventy in 1976; he completing his three-year term as mission president as a member of the seventy. He was sustained to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Oct 6, 1985 and ordained an apostle on Oct. 10. 1985. Before he was a full-time church leader, Elder Ballard had business interests in the automotive and real estate fields and has served on many church and civic committees and boards. He is married to Barbara Bowen in 1951. They have 7 children. His great-great-grandfather was Hyrum Smith and the Prophet Joseph Smith was his great-great-uncle.
: Elder Robert C. Gay became a member of the Area Seventy of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in April 2008. Prior to that, Elder Gay served a full time mission, three year assignment as Mission President in Ghana, West Africa, tending the countries of Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Liberia. Elder Gay graduated from the University of Utah and has a PHD in Business Economics from Harvard Business School. Elder Gay’s background and education is aspiring in the field of economics enabling him to be actively involved in poverty relief and humanitarian aid in developing countries as a sponsor of the Brigham Young University Center for Economic Self Reliance. Elder Gay is a board member of the Forever Young, Anasazi, Right to Play, and Operations Kids Foundation, which help over 500,00 children and youth at risk across the world in 53 nations. Elder Gay has been a former board member of Christmas Box House, Make a Wish, the Thorne Endocrine Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Huntsman Cancer Institute, Choice Humanitarian, Boy Scouts of America, Little League Baseball, and the Polynesian Cultural Center, to name a few. Elder Gay is a former recipient of the Turn for Peace Award and the BYU President’s award.Elder Gay is married to the former Lynette Nielsen. They live in Florida and are the parents of seven children.
Mariama Kallon was raised in war torn Sierra Leone, Mariama Kallon saw many things as a young girl that might fill a person with fear and hatred. Soon after witnessing the violent murders of parents and siblings and spending her youth fleeing from rebels, she was introduced to the gospel of Jesus Christ of Jesus Christ and found hope in God and peace in a knowledge of eternal families. She was given a humanitarian kit by the church, which became a treasured symbol of hope that she used to bless the lives of many as they again fled for their lives. After returning to her town, she was called on a mission to the Salt Lake City Temple Square Mission, and wept in gratitude to the Lord as she visited the place where her preciious humanitarian kit was made. Today Mariama stands as an example of the divine purposes of humanitarian work and tells her story to numerous audiences,urging them to participate in this work. She currently resides and works in Salt Lake City, where she has attended LDS Business College.
CaroLine Kirkpatrick is a Master Certified Hypnotherapist(Clinical Hypnotherapist) and has motivated audiences for over 25 years. This Princess of Play weaves humor throughout her presentations while using compelling exercises and coaching skills to help others identify and develop their own unique styles and abilities. Whether she conducts mental training programs for athletes to increase their scores and skill, stimulates corporate think tanks or coaches homeless veterans to change their course, she strives to improve the lives of others. She has authored articles for professional journals such as Firefighters and Police and has been featured both on radio and televison shows. CaroLine founded CaroLine Cosmetics and Copper Leaf Education Corporation, which offers continuing education, coaching, and retreats. She enjoys teaching primary in her ward in Salt Lake City . CaroLine is a mother of 2 sons and 4 grandchildren. She is single and currently is a full time student at the University of Utah studying Film, Media Studies and writing.
Melinda E Jennings was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Jack and Judy Emery. She received her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from BYU and has worked as a nurse for the past 25 years. She is currently in graduate school working toward a Masters in Nursing and her Family Nurse Practitioner degree at Frontier Nursing University. Currently she is the Beehive instructor; she has served as Relief Society President, Seminary teacher, Stake camp director, and Young Women’s president. She was a Member of American Mothers Board of Directors and Young Mother of the Year for the state of Georgia in 1995. She is married to Joseph Jennings and the mother of three children. During the summer of 2010 Melinda served aboard the Navy ship USNS Mercy on a humanitarian mission with LDS Charities for 5 weeks in Indonesia. Melinda worked in the operating room, lived the Navy life and experienced an adventure that was one of the hardest, and most challenging of her life. She learned lessons of gratitude in serving the people of Indonesia and experienced growth by accepting the challenge of doing hard things. Check out her Blog at
